Tamborine Mountain Wedding Celebrant

Rainforest, cool mountain air and some of South East Queensland’s best wedding venues. Tamborine is one of my favourite places to marry people. It’s where I married my own wife.

My favourite: Tamborine Mountain Glades

If you ask me where to get married on the mountain, I’ll tell you about Tamborine Mountain Glades (formerly Cedar Creek Lodges). My wife and I got married there, and I still love running ceremonies there.

  • The rainforest amphitheatre. Tiered seating wraps around the ceremony space, so every guest has a clear view and you feel surrounded by your people. It’s covered, so the ceremony goes ahead rain or shine.
  • Running water everywhere. Cedar Creek runs through the property, so you hear running water during the ceremony and again at the reception. It’s the most relaxing soundtrack you could ask for.
  • Accommodation for everyone. Suites, glamping, lodges and hotel-style rooms are all on site, so guests can stay over and nobody has to drive down the mountain after the reception.
  • Options for every size. They run micro weddings, full rainforest packages and ceremony-only bookings, which suit elopements beautifully.

Other Tamborine venues couples love

Tamborine has a venue for every style. Here’s what couples rave about at five of the most popular, based on venue details and couple reviews. Check packages and capacities directly with each venue, as they change.

Shambala Estate

A private five-acre estate with gardens, a chapel, a fountain courtyard and a chandelier-lit ballroom. You get the whole estate to yourselves, with on-site cottages for guests and room for up to about 150. Couples rave about the warm, patient team and food guests still talk about months later.

St Bernards Hotel

Around ten acres of gardens with a waterfall and creek, plus deck views over the Guanaba Gorge. Ceremonies happen in the gardens or the gallery, with a marquee as a wet-weather backup. Couples love the relaxed feel, the gardens that look good year-round in photos, and a coordinator who keeps the day running smoothly. A lodge for the bridal party and a motel next door make guest accommodation easy.

Cedar Creek Estate Vineyard & Winery

A sandstone chapel overlooking the vineyard and lake, or a garden arbour by the water, then a reception in the Cedar Room overlooking the vines. The tree-lined boulevard and liquid amber trees make for great photos. Couples say the wedding team takes the stress out of the day. There’s no on-site accommodation, but plenty of stays are a few minutes away.

Pethers Rainforest Retreat

Treehouse-style rooms tucked into the rainforest, a private rainforest garden for the ceremony and a lodge with a high timber ceiling and open fire for the reception. It’s exclusive use, which makes it ideal for intimate weddings where everyone stays the night. Couples love the seclusion, the attentive staff and the in-house food.

The Secret Garden Estate

Five acres of gardens with ceremony spots on the Romantic Steps or under the maples, drinks at The Stable Bar and dinner on the Garden Deck as the sun goes down. Its all-inclusive packages cover catering, styling, flowers and accommodation, which makes planning simple. Pets are welcome too.

Tips for a Tamborine Mountain wedding

  • Pack a layer. The mountain is usually a few degrees cooler than the coast, and evenings can get chilly, even in spring.
  • Plan for mist and storms. Mist can roll in quickly (it looks magical in photos), and summer afternoons can bring storms. Pick a venue with a covered ceremony option or a solid wet-weather plan.
  • Give guests travel time. It’s roughly 45 minutes from the Gold Coast, with winding roads at the end. Share directions and suggest guests arrive 20 minutes early.
  • Book accommodation early. Tamborine is a popular getaway, so weekend stays fill fast. Venues with on-site rooms make life much easier.
  • Let everyone hear you. Rainforest and open lawns swallow sound. My battery-powered BOSE PA comes to every ceremony, so the back row hears every word.

We were so happy with our ceremony with Ben. Would highly recommend him!! The lead up to the event was super easy and he made us feel relaxed through the whole process.

Questions about Tamborine Mountain weddings

Do you charge travel to Tamborine Mountain?

No. Tamborine Mountain is included in my $790 fee, along with the rest of the Gold Coast and hinterland.

What’s the best Tamborine Mountain venue for a wet-weather ceremony?

Look for a covered ceremony space. The rainforest amphitheatre at Tamborine Mountain Glades is covered, and most other mountain venues have a chapel, marquee or indoor backup. I’m happy to talk it through with you.

Can we elope on Tamborine Mountain?

Absolutely. Several venues offer ceremony-only or micro-wedding packages, and all you legally need is me and two witnesses. Get in touch and we’ll find the right spot.
