Gold Coast Beach Wedding Celebrant

Sand between your toes, the ocean behind you and everyone you love in a half-circle on the beach. I run relaxed, fun beach ceremonies from Main Beach to Burleigh and beyond.

Beach weddings on the Gold Coast

A beach ceremony is about as Gold Coast as it gets. I’ve married couples on the sand at Kurrawa in Broadbeach and on the lawns above the surf, and I once had the Gold Coast air show try to upstage a ceremony. We laughed it off and it became the best part of the day.

Tips for a beach ceremony

  • Check if you need a booking. Ceremonies on City of Gold Coast beaches and foreshore parks generally need to be booked with council. Check their website early, especially for popular spots and weekends.
  • Pick your time carefully. Mid-morning and late afternoon are kinder on guests than the midday sun, and quieter too. Check the tide times so you’re not racing the water.
  • Plan for wind. Sea breezes carry voices away and play havoc with veils and paper. My BOSE PA system is included, so your vows are heard over the waves.
  • Think about your guests’ feet. A few chairs for older guests and a heads-up about shoes on sand goes a long way.
  • Have a backup spot. A nearby pavilion, surf club or covered area makes a perfect plan B if the weather turns.

During our ceremony we had some unexpected distractions with the Gold Coast air show but he handled it professionally and with humour and it ended up being a very fun and memorable ceremony.

Questions about Gold Coast Beaches weddings

Do we need a permit to get married on a Gold Coast beach?

Usually you need to book the spot with the City of Gold Coast. Requirements and fees can change, so check the council website or give them a call. I’m happy to help you work out what you need.

Will our guests be able to hear us over the waves?

Yes. My battery-powered BOSE PA comes to every ceremony at no extra cost, with a microphone for me and for your vows.

What time of day is best for a beach wedding?

Late afternoon gives you softer light and cooler temperatures. Early morning is quieter and calm. Midday is hot and busy, so I’d avoid it in summer.
